Charles Logan MORRIS died at his home SW of town on the former john LAMSON place, on Thursday of last week. He had been in Culver Hospital for several weeks for treatment for a growth that had finally closed the entrance of the oesophagus (sic) into the stomach. A tube was inserted into the stomach in the hope to feed him and built up his strength to undergo an operation for the removal of the obstruction. This hope proved vain and he was brought to his home the day before he died. Funeral services were held at the Russellville Christian Church on Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. RL Hartling. Mr. NR Walker had charge of the music. Charles Logan Morris, only son of Jacob W. and Mary J. MORRIS was born NW of Fincastle, Nov 24, 1868, passed from this life March 16 at six o'clock p.m. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, one son, Ralph, daughter-in-law, Beulah and grand daughter, Mary Ann Morris of East Chicago. Also two sisters, Mrs. Alice Woodrum of Roachdale and Ada May Morris, besides several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Waveland Christian Church, which was a great joy and comfort to him in his long illness. He was a good husband, father and brother and now he is at rest. Mr. Morris moved here about two years ago from Cherryvale, KS where he had engaged in farming. His health was already failing and it was his desire to move back to Indiana to the home of his childhood. He was well liked by all who knew him. Mrs. Morris was not able to attend the funeral on account of serious illness. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morris and daughter returned to East Chicago on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. JH Snyder who were here from Chanute, KS for the funeral returned home on Monday. Mr. Snyder is a nephew. His parents died when he was a child and he grew up in the Morris home. A niece, Miss Nora Walker will stay with Mrs. Morris for the present.   --- typed by kbz
